Flower Care Instructions
How to Care for a Rose Bouquet or Mixed Flower Arrangement:
- Trim the stems at a slant, about 1 cm from the bottom.
- Place the bouquet in a clean vase filled with lukewarm water.
- If flower food is provided, dissolve the contents of the sachet in 0.5 L of water.
- Keep the bouquet in a cooler room, away from direct sunlight.
- Change the water daily and re-trim the stems each time.
How to Care for a Floral Arrangement or Flower Box:
- Place the arrangement in a cool room, away from direct sunlight, and on a protective surface to avoid damage to furniture.
- Add water daily with a small watering can to the center of the arrangement.
- If flower food is provided, dissolve it in 0.5 L of water and use this to refill.
Special Care for Certain Cut Flowers:
Bulb and Tuber Flowers
(e.g., daffodils, tulips, hyacinths)
- Tulips: Place in a vase with ice-cold water – you can even add ice cubes.
- Daffodils: They release a substance harmful to other flowers, so let them sit in a separate vase for 1 day before combining with others.
- Hyacinths: Once in bloom, they can be too aromatic – avoid placing them in bedrooms, reception areas, or waiting rooms.
Hydrangeas
- Trim stems diagonally with sharp scissors and place in a vase with warm water.
- Remove any leaves below the waterline to prevent rotting and bacterial growth, which can shorten the lifespan of the flowers.
Peonies
- Trim the stems by 3 to 4 cm, using a clean, sharp knife to ensure a smooth cut.
- Remove any submerged leaves to avoid rot and bacterial spread, which can cause the flowers to wilt faster.
Sunflowers
- Cut stems diagonally and place in a vase with warm water.
Exotic Flowers
(e.g., anthuriums, orchids)
- With proper care, exotic flowers can last 4–6 weeks.
- Avoid placing them in drafts or under air conditioning.
- If you’ve received a cut orchid in a floral water tube, check regularly for sufficient water, refill as needed, and trim the stem by only a few millimeters.
