How to Choose the Right Funeral Flowers – Guidance from Belles Fleurs

When you’ve lost a loved one, selecting flowers for their final farewell is a tender way to show respect and express what words often can’t.

We understand this is a difficult time. Our funeral bouquets and wreaths are curated with care, compassion, and sensitivity.

What to Consider When Choosing Funeral Flowers

  • Funeral florals should include an even number of blossoms — it is seen as a message that your loved one is never alone.
  • For a woman, lighter‐colored flowers are often preferred; for a man, darker shades may be more appropriate.
  • Always choose fresh flowers. Artificial or dried flowers are generally not considered a suitable expression of respect.

Each Flower Carries Its Own Meaning

  • Lilies: purity and peace
  • Roses: love and respect
  • Chrysanthemums: heartfelt remembrance
  • White roses: a farewell for a young person
  • Hydrangeas: sincere feelings
  • Alstroemerias: friendship and loyalty, often chosen to show support to the grieving family

Ordering & Delivery Options

  • You can pick up at any of our branches, or we can deliver directly to the funeral service location.
  • If you choose delivery, we ask for the name of the deceased, the address of the funeral venue, and the date/time of the ceremony.
  • There is a handling fee of CZK 150 when flowers are delivered to the funeral home.

Styling & Ribbons

  • Choose ribbon colors that express sentiment: black for older persons, green for men, burgundy for women, white for younger people. These are suggestions, not rules.
  • The ribbon includes two sides: one for your message (e.g. “Forever remembered,” “In Loving Memory,” “With Love”) and the other for the sender’s name. The message is printed, not handwritten.

Sample Sentiments for Your Ribbon Message

  • “Thinking of You”
  • “Always Remembered”
  • “Forever in Our Hearts”
  • “Never Forgotten”
  • “In Eternal Memory”
  • “With Love”
  • “With Love and Gratitude”
